Subject: $300 digital camera
Hi. If you caught my last thread, I was looking for a $200 digital
camera. In the near future, to help out in my genealogy work.
Afterwards, I'd want to try some prime focus shots on my big 24" newt.

I decided not to go with a point & shoot camera. While I can't afford a
big 30D, for $200-$300 I'm looking now at a superzoom. I was thinking
either the Fuji FinePix S700 or S6000 (I heard to S6000 has good manual
control). Maybe a Panasonic Lumix Powershot S3 or a FZ8.

Whatever camera I decide on, I will contact http://www.scopetronix.com
and make sure they have an adapter. If anyone has any experience with
super zooms, I'd appreciate any advice...Dennis

Just out of curiousity, Dennis, have you asked your camera questions in any
of the genealogy newsgroups, like alt.genealogy or soc.genealogy.methods?
Quite a few camera users there who can help you on the genealogy side of
your search.

My advice? If you really are interested in astro-imaging, save your
money for a Digital Rebel. They can be had for about 600 now if you
don't want the latest and greatest (the XTI) and will be far better on
terrestrial _or_ astronomical subjects than a point-and-shoot of ANY
kind.
